Alternative Learning School
Help us to build an alternative learning school to support the children of socially and economically deprived communities and fight for a sustainable livelihood
Meiporul Foundation runs evening learning center’s in tribal villages of Kodaikanal hills. We come to see a number of children drop outs in the rural villages of kodaikanal due to various reasons. At this point of time we decided to work on establishing an alternative school that shall facilitate these children with quality education and opportunity of employment.
Tribal children require an education that binds with their culture and tradition. They should link their traditional values of conservation, arts, culture and knowledge. We think of developing such an education center to promote their traditional knowledge along with conventional education and to follow them till their employment.

Development Timeline
The Emerge of Idea
On may 2022, we had our first talk to build an alternative learning center for the children of tribal communities and underprivileged communities in kodaikanal hills.
The First Contribution
The first contribution of Rs.10/- for our emerging school was made by an adivasi child.
Because, there are larger portion of school drop outs among the children in each tribal villages.
In spite of having number of schemes that facilitate the education of tribal children, these children have other reasons such as lack of transport, incompatible school environment, infiltration of alcohol in communities and socio-economic culture that obstructs children from going to school.
Adding to these reasons, the traditional values of tribes that includes rich knowledge about conservation, traditional medicine and other cultural aspects are gradually disappearing from the communities. We are to focus on reconstructing the link of transforming these values to next generation and documenting the positives for the well being of the humanity
To grow up children with positive values of environmental conservation and social welfare through education, that shall build social leaders who shall be the saviors of social justice and environmental well being.
To impart quality education with ethical values and ensure employment and better livelihood opportunities to tribal children by utilizing the various welfare schemes of the government.
